Egypt

Welcome to Egypt!
Gregg scored us a great deal and off we went for a weekend of adventure seeking!
The mosque is located on a hillside and gives great views of the city.

Mohammad Ali Mosque in Cairo.

I like the black ones better. This cover up looks a little weird.
Not sure if I'm Momma Smurf or KKK.
The dome of the Mosque. I think the kids are more amazing than the dome personally! : )

Colette's classic move. It's become her signature!

Us at the base of the Grand Pyramid. The foundation stones are immense. It's impossible to wrap your mind around such a structure!

The city of Giza is just to the left of this picture.  The sphinx is behind and below the pyramid on the right. These pyramids are at least 3000 years old and still standing in all their glory!

Walk like an Egyptian . . .

Colette showing Mr. Sphinx a little love.

Bennet petting the great sphinx. It was smaller than we thought it was! But, still very cool!

See those little people on the right? Those are my peeps.
The step pyramid of Sakkar. Early 3rd century.

The farms are lush and beautiful.

This huge statue is of Ramses the 2nd. It was found in a farm and was only discovered in the 1900's! The detail is outstanding. We learned in our that a straight beard means it was built while the pharaoh was alive while I curved beard means the opposite.

The view from the Hotel.

The boys and Ramses.

A typical street. Old with new, lots of trash.

The ever present protective cobras.

Egyptians scored the first columns!

Our trip home was an adventure all it's own. We waited in the plane for 3 hours and in the airport for 10 before we finally left for home! We were a little sleepy and crazy!!!

Ashtonn's new talent!

This is more difficult than it looks! Ashtonn said he wants to be an engineer and a "climber" when he grows up. : )
