Thai cooking class

The chef at Aleenta instructed us on the finer points of Thai cuisine.  We went to the market and picked out our ingredients.  The market was an experience on it's own! I've never been more grateful for modern day grocery stores! Later we went back to the resort and learned how to make chicken satay with peanut sauce, pad thai and spring rolls. Hopefully I can repeat the recipe at home! :)

Romancing

Gregg planned a private beach front dinner for us! It  was gorgeous! You couldn't ask for a more romantic date.  We enjoyed a delicious 6 course meal. Everything was perfect. The sound of the ocean,  flame from the tiki torches and the stars serenaded us all evening! I love my hubby! <3

The islands

We took another long boat to explore the many smaller islands. They protrude out of the ground like giant fingers! We sailed around James Bond island and explored the floating market. Trinkets, shells, pearls, fabric and anything you could imagine, just at your finger tips! The sales ladies are very persuasive, "mam!  I'm open, you buy!"

I couldn't stop staring at the sites in front of us! It was like being on a national geographic photo shoot! So beautiful!

You can't go to Thailand and not ride an elephant!

Elephants are so wonderful! They are really gentle giants who respond well to bananas! The guides would sing and speak to the elephants so kindly.  Our trip was very bouncy and we were grateful to stay aboard!

Aleenta Resort, Phuket Island

An hour flight south landed us on the spectacular island of Phuket. We were pampered and well rested at the fabulous Aleenta resort.

Chao Phraya river ride

We went for a river ride in a traditional long boat.  The only thing not traditional would be the car engine they used to propel us through the less than sparkling water. Everything in Bangkok is strangely beautiful. From purple fences, blue tile roofs and rainbow fruit, it's like Dorothy walking out of black and white into full color.

The locals were fishing, drying laundry or paddling up by the boat to sell their wares.  We even saw a huge Komodo dragon! What an adventure!
